Mengenai Tanah dan Hewan Tanah

Pengertian Tanah

Concerning the Land and Land Animals
Understanding Soil
Land (Greek: pedon; Latin: solum) is part of the earth's crust composed of mineral and organic materials.
Land is very vital role for all life on earth because the soil supports plant life by providing nutrients and water as well as the support of the root. Soil structure is hollow-cavity is also a good place for the roots to breathe and grow. Land is also a habitat for life with different microorganisms. For most land animals, the land becomes land to live and move.

Soil formation (pedogenesis)
Soil derived from weathering of rocks with the help of the organism, form a unique body that covers the rock. The process of soil formation is known as [[pedogenesis]]. The process of this unique form of land as a natural body consisting of layers is called the horizon or the ground. Each horizon tells about the origin and processes of physics, chemistry, and biology that has traversed the body of land.
Hans Jenny (1899-1992), a soil expert from Switzerland who work in the United States, said that the soil formed from parent material that has been modified / weathering due to the dynamics of climatic factors, organisms (including humans), and relief of the earth's surface (topography) over time. Based on the dynamics of the five factors are forming various types of soil and land classification can be done.

Characteristic
Body of land (solum) is none other than rock mold and undergo a process of formation continued. Age of soil found at this time no one older than the Tertiary period and mostly composed of the Pleistocene.
The body is formed from a mixture of soil organic matter and minerals. Non-organic soil or mineral soil formed from the rock so that it contains minerals. In contrast, organic soil (organosol / humosol) formed from the compaction of organic material degraded.
Organic soil is black and is a major shaper of peatland and later to become coal. Organic soils tend to have high acidity because it contains some organic acids (humic substances), the result of decomposition of organic materials. The group is usually poor mineral soil, mineral supply comes from water flow or results of tissue decomposition of living things. Organic soils can be planted because it has physical properties friable (the nest) so that they can save enough water, but because it has high acidity of most food crops will provide limited results and under optimum performance.
Non-organic soil is dominated by minerals. These minerals form the soil-forming particles. Soil texture as determined by the composition of three soil-forming particles: sand, silt (dust), and clay. Sandy soil dominated by sand, clay soil dominated by clay. Soil with the composition of sand, silt, and clay are balanced known as loam (loam).
Ground color is a key feature that most people memorable. The color of the soil is very varied, ranging from dark black, brown, brick red, orange, yellow, to white. Moreover, land can have layers with different color contrast as a result of chemical processes (acidification) or washing (leaching). Black or dark-colored soil often indicates the presence of high organic matter, both because the decay of vegetation and depositional processes in the swamp. Dark colors can also be caused by the presence of manganese, sulfur, and nitrogen. Reddish or yellowish ground color is usually caused by a high content of oxidized iron; different colors occur because of the influence of the chemical process of its formation. The atmosphere of aerobic / oxidative produce a uniform color or color changes gradually, while the atmosphere of an anaerobic / reductive bring in color patterns or color spots bertotol-concentrated.
Soil structure is the physical characteristics of soil that is formed from the composition of aggregate (grains) of land and space antaragregat. Soil is composed of three phases: solid phase, liquid phase and gas phase. Liquid phase and gas fills the antaragregat. Soil structure depends on three factors making up this balance. Antaragregat space referred to as porous (pore plural). Good soil structure for root if the large pores (makropori) filled with air and small-sized pores (mikropori) filled with water. Loose soil (nest) have large aggregate with mikropori makropori and balanced. Land became increasingly tough when excess clay so lack makropori.

Soil Microorganisms
The land is inhabited by a variety of microorganisms. The number of each group of microorganisms vary greatly, there are comprised of several individuals, but there are also a number in the millions per gram of soil. Soil microorganisms that are solely responsible for the weathering of organic matter and recycling nutrients. Thus they have an influence on physical and chemical properties of soil (Anas 1989).
Further Anas (1989), states that the total number of microorganisms contained in soil used as an index of soil fertility (fertility index), without considering other things. Fertile soil contains a number of microorganisms, high population illustrates the supply of food or enough energy coupled with an appropriate temperature, water availability is sufficient, other ecological conditions that support the development of microorganisms in the soil.
The number of microorganisms are very useful in determining where the organisms in relation to the root system, the remaining organic matter and soil profile depth. This data is also useful in comparing the diversity of climate and soil management on the activities of organisms in the soil (Anas 1989).

Soil Organisms
Soil biota is a collection of organisms that make soil body as a living space to run as an ecological or all activities. Soil biota are part of the body can not terpiahkan land between them there is a reciprocal relationship. Soil biota, soil-forming is one factor that controls the various process activities ekofisiologisnya pedogenik ground, among others through reform (mineralization), destroy and break down organic matter (humifikasi, mineralization) and mixed up the building blocks of soil (pedoturbasi).
Fauna in soil ecosystems consist of macro-fauna and micro flora. Soil macro-fauna include: herbivores such as annelids (earthworms), dipolopoda (millipedes) and Insecta (insects). And rats, while micro-fauna includes protozoa and rotifers.
In the presence of macro-fauna of the soil ecosystem is not just land donated materials that will be altered by the body saprofop (decomposition), thereby increasing soil organic matter content, but also form the soil aggregation. In soil ecosystems inhabited by many soil macro-fauna, soil structure became loose have a high porosity. Such a situation will cause the micro flora and micro fauna and leapt pendekomposer abundant activities, thereby increasing soil kesuvuran.

Animal Land
Soil animals are animals that live in soil, both living at ground level or who live in the soil. The land itself is suatatu landscape composed of mineral materials is the result of weathering process of rocks and organic material consisting of soil organisms and the results of weathering the remaining plants and other animals. It is clear that soil animals are part of the soil ecosystem. With denikian, sangatdi land animal life determined by physical-chemical factor of soil, therefore in studying the ecology of soil animals physical-chemical soil factors are always measured.
Measurement of physical-chemical properties can be done directly on the ground and some that can only be measured in the laboratory. For the measurement of soil physicochemical factors in the laboratory do so in soil sampling and taken to the laboratory.
